The early 2010s and the early days of the twitter and Instagram have come and gone and so has most of the relevance hashtags once held over the way we used to find content on social media. Although, less widely used than they once were hashtags still serve a purpose on social media in 2023. So, how has the use of hashtags changed over the years and what has been replacing them?  First, we must acknowledge that a lot has changed about social media over the years, not just hashtags. Social media platforms that once dominated the market have less some relevance over the last few years, such as Facebook and more recently Instagram. Sites like myspace and Tumblr technically still exist but are no longer considered mainstream social media platforms.  The newest social media obsession is TikTok.  SNL is known for making fun of various different politicians all over the country from both major parties. Some American leaders have joined in on the fun for a cameo in a skit and a few prominent political figures have even hosted an episode of the show. More politicians that want to garner national attention for their cause campaign, especially those running for President should go on SNL. Let's start of by saying the political sketches are objectively the best part of SNL and if you're a politician hosting an episode is basically a 90-minute campaign ad. But one that isn't a sterile generic word salad that everyone groans at. A politician doing something as unique as going on SNL in the middle of a campaign humanizes them in a very unique manner.  This article addresses the very important water crisis we are facing here in Arizona. Climate change has made the extremely important Colorado river which Arizona relies on for much of its water supply become scare in resources. I found the rhetoric of this post to be appropriate for the topic at hand. The author remained professional while at the same time giving suggestions on how to handle the water crisis without making it seem overly bias or like an opinion piece.  I thought this piece was very interesting and I appreciated the way it addressed the larger effects this and other water related problems can have on the environment and their contribution to larger climate disasters. The author mentions the impact this can have on farmers and subsequently our food supply. This article also vaguely touches on the ways in which the climate crisis is already impacting lower impact people and how they will be hit the worse by climate changes full effects if it's not combated. Cable seems to be a dying business nowadays with streaming services dominating there is no need to pay for cable on top of the probably half a dozen streaming services most of us have. Not to mention the con of having to sit through commercials. Many shows are available to watch the next day of their streaming counterparts. But nothing quite adds up to the experience of watching a show live while it airs for the first time. This article is about the concerns some have of President Biden's age. This is not an opinion piece and although it's not specifically stated in the article it is clear the journalist who wrote believes the President is too old to run for reelection. This article appears simply reporting on the concerns some have about the President's age, but language choice makes it clear that the author shares that concern. The headline of the article uses a quote from the President himself where he states that people's concerns over his age are "totally legitimate". The author uses this quote as the "gotcha" moment the entire article's premise is based around.  Hello to all who are reading. I know the title is very oddly specific and frankly probably doesn't sound all too interesting, but this is my soapbox for today so bear with me. I have recently started watching the show Ghosts (UK) which is actually quite good if you're able to look past the British accents (no offensive to any brits who may be reading, well okay maybe a little.) The first three seasons are available to watch on HBO Max, but the fourth season is not yet available and despite the fact that the season premiered months ago there isn't even as much as an ETA as to when it will be streaming. This makes me ponder the question what exactly is taking so long? I'm not in the show biz but I seriously can not think of a single good reason as to why you have to wait months for a show that is literally already filmed, and millions of people have already seen to come out on a streaming service that you have to pay to use.   Entry #1: The World is Your Blog I intentionally thought that blogs were an outdated and relevant concept that served no purpose in society especially in the year 2023. And although it does seem like blogs for the most have their glory days behind them (as it is hard to find one that has made an updated post in the last 4 years) I now see the purpose that blogs can serve and why a person would make one.  I read three different blog websites. Words for Worms, The Dish, and Occupy Wall Street. I liked Words for Worms and Occupy Wall Street however, I did not like The Dish.  Words for Worms is a blog a book reviews. The author’s name is Katie and she reviews various different books of all different genres on her blog. What I liked about her blog is the writing style. Her reviews are very unserious and have personal antidotes.
